I know most of you know this song by heart but it says exactly what I'm feeling right now as I struggle to understand the feelings that have been in my heart since Tuesday. So I felt the need to post it.

Song: The Change

Performer: Garth Brooks

The Change
(Tony Arata, Wayne Tester)

One hand Reaches out
And pulls a lost soul from harm
While a thousand more
Go unspoken for.

They say what good have you done
By saving just this one?
It's like whispering a prayer
In the fury of a storm

And I hear them saying you'll never change things
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing
But it's not the world that I am changing
I do this so this world will know
That it will not change me

This heart Still believes
That love and mercy still exist.
While all the hatreds rage and so many say
That love is all but pointless
In madness such as this.
It's like trying to stop a fire
With the moisture from a kiss.

As long as one heart still lives on
Then hope is never really gone.

And I hear them saying you'll never change things.
And no matter what you do it's still the same thing.
But it's not the world that I am changing.
I do this so this world we know
Never changes me.
What I do is so
This world will know
That it will not change me

My local station has been playing it with audio clips of the news casts about the tragedy. Very moving...

A station here that normally plays light rock/oldies played "The Change". I got goosebumps right away, never expecting that it'd pop up on this channel. Then right after that, they played "God Bless The USA" by Lee Greenwood, with different clips of news stories. They said that these 2 songs summed it up the best for them at the station. I couldn't agree more.

Yes, God bless the USA and the world right now.

Thanks for posting the lyrics, Donna, and everyone please keep requesting this song on your radio stations.

Thanks for bringing us this song, Garth. God bless you.
