This week I've been "reintroduced" to Kim Richey and her music. She opened for Trisha Yearwood when I saw her in VA. I had heard her before I really admired her style and talent. Then at this concert, I met her and got a CD signed. Her performance reminded me why I like her. :)

That's the kind of vibe I was going with here.
Had the idea much longer than I had the lyrics. Typical. ;)
I'll probably work more on the chorus. Hope you enjoy.

Bring On The Rain
2001 Stephanie Shade

A gray horizon on the hill
The road I'm on is grayer still
But they match the heavy clouds I drive below
A color-coordinated scene
As far as anyone can see
Though it's not my favorite shade out of the rainbow

As the water trickles down the glass
My mind drifts into the past
And stumbles on some memories of you
Emotions drawn in retrospect
Reminiscent sighs for every breath
But the skies ain't the only thing missing the blues

Oh, I got dark clouds moving all around
Thunder and lightning crashing down
You got sunny California living up to its name
But a little water on my back
versus a heart completely cracked
With the sun shining down on all my pain
If those are my choices...
Bring on the rain

When there's days like these to live
and no one to share them with
I bet that you're the one who really feels it
But hearts like yours, they come so few
Once the walls are broken through
There's sure to be somebody who will steal it

You regret things you should have said
for every day that passes
I regret the hard-earned cash
I spent on new sunglasses

I got dark clouds moving all around
Thunder and lightning crashing down
You got sunny California living up to its name
But a little water on my back
versus a heart completely cracked
With the sun shining down on all my pain
If those are my choices...
Bring on the rain

COMPLETELY AWESOME :D I've said it before, but I'll say it again...Nash, you are sooo gifted!!! I envy your songwriting ability, I really do. Like Brian said, I could just picture myself in the middle of a storm when reading the song. And, when your audience can literally throw themselves into the lyrics, then you know you have a good song ;) I always enjoy coming here and reading new material you've written. I can't wait to read the next one!
