Vince Gill To Receive Career Achievement Honor

Vince Gill will receive the Country Weekly Career Achievement Award at the upcoming TNN & CMT Country Weekly Music Awards. The June 13 awards show will be telecast live on both TNN and CMT from Nashville's Gaylord Entertainment Center.

"Vince is a top-notch musician, a loyal supporter of his Nashville hometown and a flag waver for country music and the traditions on which it is built," said Sheri Warnke, Country Weekly vice president and publisher, in a statement.

The career achievement award is presented to a living artist who has recorded for at least 15 years and has made a lasting contribution to the tradition and heritage of country music. Kenny Rogers received the inaugural award last year.

As previously reported, Alan Jackson leads the list with eigh nominatons, just ahead of George Strait, Faith Hill, and Tim McGraw, who each pulled in seven nods. Other multiple nominees include Lee Ann Womack with five, Dixie Chicks with four, and Toby Keith, John Michael Montgomery, and Reba McEntire with three nods each.

Nominees for the awards were selected by country music fans through mail-in ballots and the Internet. Final voting -- which was conducted through countryweekly.com, country.com, and tnnonline.com, ballots in Country Weekly, and special phone numbers -- has ended.

I this man impressive or what? He said he felt he was way too young to be receiving this award. That's Vince for ya. Humble as they get. I just love everything about him. Has anyone seen him in concert? He is all about the music. No flashy light show or anything, just him, his guitar, his band and his voice. The man is a stellar guitar player. If ya haven't been to a show, don't hesitate. it doesn't get much better than that...:)
