Hey y'all,

You're gonna have to help me here. Ever since I started this one, I've wondered if it's clear enough to make sense. But don't ask me why it's another sad one. LOL I swear I'm not always this depressed. ;)

A Game I Donít Intend To Win
© 2001 Stephanie Shade

The closing of a door
on a quiet amber night
A picture of solitude
and the sound of goodbye
Thereís a battle of heartaches
about to begin
But itís a game I donít intend to win

Iím a different person
than I used to be
Blue tears have washed my eyes
just enough to see
That I may think about you
but loneliness ainít a sin
This is a game I donít intend to win

Go ahead and talk about me
All those lonely nights without me
Make sure your friends know what youíre going through
Spend your time watching the door
See who can miss the other more
Iíve got a broken heart thatís betting on you

An innocent April morning
steam rising from the cup
Ten thousand arms of a brilliant sun
slowly reaching up
A perfect chance for the memories
to try to settle in
But this is a game I donít intend to win

So go ahead and call me
Tell me how itíd all be
If we could just forgive and then forget
I can hear you drop to your knees
in attempt of a final plea
But it doesnít change the fact that you left

The closing of a door
on something that didnít last
A picture with no place
but to be tucked into the past
Cuz, as long as Iím missing you
I canít fall in love again
So this is a game I donít intend to win

"Thanks for your time,"

It's crystal clear to me, Nash! And it gave me goosebumps all over, what a wonderful song! I think almost everybody has had an experience like this one and you describe it so beautifully. Thanks! :)

P.S.: In a similar situation, I once wrote this (now don't you laugh! ... Well, actually, please do! :) )

I love you tender
I love you true
I love you till
my face looks blue

Goodbye my love
goodbye my life
someday I'll be
someone else's wife!

(and I am now :) )

:D :D LOL, Very cute, Marjolijn. Short, sweet, and to the point. I'm glad you found another love, too.

Thanks for the reply.

You are truly an inspiration to us beginning writers, Nash.
