Veteran performer Kenny Rogers will receive the Career Achievement Award during the 36th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards, to be broadcast May 9 on CBS. The special award, voted on by the ACM board of directors, is given to an artist who has had career success in past years and had a "substantial comeback" in the preceding calendar year. "Kenny has been one of the most consistent and resilient voices in country music for the past quarter century," ACM Executive Director Fran Boyd said in a news release. "His list of achievements in the industry is overwhelming."
