Well it took a day longer than planned but we finally got the new forums up. The delay came in importing the member database and over 100,000 posts into this new system.
You may notice some threads/posts missing. The last time I was able to backup the database was on the 15th. So unfortunatley anything from the 15th-18th was lost. This also applies to registrations. If you registered in the last few days, you'll need to re-register.
All members are encouraged to update their profiles. There are lots of new options that you'll need to reset.
A few notes to keep in mind when playing with the new stuff...
This software is a third party engine that is still classified as beta (though it's still pretty stable). As with any beta program, there will be some bugs somewhere so don't hesitate to let me know...
Any problems with graphics or styles are not bugs and I will be cleaning up around here over the next few days. One of the first things on my list is to get rid of those horrible purple buttons. Also, the old smilies will be coming back, we're not staying with these new yellow smilies.
So if you happen to see something look out of place one minute, then its gone the next, it's just me moving stuff around.
With all the new features (and I find new ones everyday), the biggest benefit to the switch is stability. As many of you have noticed the old Forums would go down quite frequently. This was because of the web server they were on. I've moved the Forums back to the planetgarth.com server, which has always been reliable. The Trivia Challenge and PG Search engine remain on that old server, but they'll be switched soon.
